FIRSTLY HOW DID YOUR MUSICAL JOURNEY BEGIN AND WHEN DID YOU GUYS FIRST MEET? We met in an after hours club in Bristol called Dojo Lounge. We decided to start making music together for a laugh and then went from there! YOU HAVE BEEN WORKING WITHIN THE MUSIC SCENE FOR A WHILE NOW PROMOTING AND DJING. WHAT HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST CHANGE YOU'VE SEEN IN THE INDUSTRY? The biggest change was going from the mega weekly club nights that happened week in week out, like Gatecrasher, Cream etc; moving to smaller events and then big one off parties. You don't really see so many of the big weekly events anymore. YOU'RE PLAYING AT DGTL FESTIVAL IN AMSTERDAM IN APRIL. THE LINEUP LOOKS MEGA, ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS ONE AND WILL YOU BE STICKING AROUND TO SEE ANYONE ELSE PLAY? 100%. Can't wait! The line up is ridiculous, will definitely be there for the whole day. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SPOT TO PLAY AND HOW DO YOU FIND THE CROWD? It really depends, but I think it would be somewhere in Bristol – we always have a really great reaction there. Fabric also has a really special energy to it, and we always love playing there. YOU'VE HAD RELEASES ON SOME RESPECTED LABELS SUCH AS HOT CREATIONS, DIRTYBIRD, FUTUREBOOGIE AND LEFTROOM. WHAT'S NEXT? We plan to continue working with these labels, and we also have some material out with new labels such as Kerri Chandler's MadTech records and Resonance Records as well this year. WHAT IS THE BEST MUSICAL HIGH FOR YOU, IS IT PLAYING LIVE OR PRODUCING? I'm much more a fan of DJing, its where I started and will always be my first love. Rich prefers the production, but we both are into both sides of it! YOU PLAYED GLASTONBURY LAST SUMMER, THIS MUST HAVE BEEN SUCH A MASSIVE MOMENT FOR YOU BOTH. WHAT CAN TOP THAT? Not much, it was amazing! And being from Bristol, Glastonbury is a really special place for us as its really close and so many of our friends are there. SPEAKING ON BRISTOL, THE CITY HAS BEEN THE BIRTH HOME TO SOME QUALITY MUSIC OVER THE YEARS, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS OF THE SCENE THERE AT THE MOMENT? Its great, there are so many great artists here at the moment, and it's a small city so we all know each other. Its so cool to have so many talented people around with you all the time. WHAT IS THE MOST EXCITING THING YOU ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS YEAR? There are loads of really exciting stuff. We can't wait for the new material to come out, and some really great gigs – of course DGTL – we love playing in Amsterdam! IF YOU WERE INVISIBLE FOR THE DAY, WHAT WOULD YOU GET UP TO? Stuff that would probably get me arrested. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME, WE LOOK FORWARD TO CATCHING YOU IN DAM! Catch Waifs & Strays over the Easter Weekend 19th -20th April at DGTL Festival in Amsterdam. For more information check out www. dgtlfestival.com Ahead of their set at the underground electronica DGTL Festival Amsterdam this Easter weekend we caught up with Amos Nelson, one half of Bristolian duo Waifs & Strays.
