7 37 Issue 61 / 2014 FESTIVALS guestlist.net NASS 2014 The diversity of genres and events offered by Nass festival is unrivalled, running from 11th - 13th July, this festival boasts a combination of skate and BMX competitions alongside an exhaustive list of genres comprised of a stunning selection of DJ's and bands. It's not at all festivals where you can walk into a warehouse occupy- ing the likes of garage legend DJ EZ, house heroine Hannah Wants and drum and bass hero Wilkin- son, before entering the main stage and standing before Cypress Hill as they play their renowned tracks such as 'Insane in the Brain' and 'Dr. Greenthumb'. Situated in Shepton Mallet in Summerset, this festival really does have something for everyone, boasting white knuckle rides, silent discos, DJ workshops and extreme sports competitions running throughout the day. Other big names on the line up include Dismantle, Friction, Borgore and Roska, all of which will be perform- ing in warehouses located on the main festival site. With still many more acts to be an- nounced, this is certainly a festival for those who appreciate a wide ar- ray of dance music genres. 'SECRET SOLSTICE' IN REYKJAVIK Due to Iceland being situated so close to the Arctic Circle, the coun- try gets the full effect during the summer sol- stice. 'Secret Solstice' features over 150 artists from around the world, from a various array of genres. The festival showcases both estab- lished artists as well as exciting up and coming talent over the course of three days. The festival takes place in Iceland's capital city Reykjavik. Secret Solstice is the only fes- tival you can party for 72 hours straight and the sun actually never sets! LONDON INTERNATIONAL SKA FESTIVAL The London International Ska Festi- val returns to the capital next Easter weekend (17-20 April 2014) and is go- ing to host 50 acts from around the world, playing 10 events all happening at iconic and famed London venues. Headline acts include Horace Andy, Derrick Morgan, Keith & Tex, Ken Parker, Mad Professor, Dennis Bovell, Jazz Jamaica and King Prawn, whilst venues include the lawns of the Vic- toria & Albert Museum, Prince Charles cinema in Leicester Sq (screening Madness' 1981 Take It or Leave It film), The Di- xie Queen Thames cruise, and Camden Town's Jazz Cafe, Dingwalls, Barfly, The Forge and Electric Ballroom. 'AWAKENINGS' IN SPAARNWOUDE (DEELPLAN HOUTRAK) 'Awakenings is THE techno festival in Holland, dosing its audience with top class techno' house acts across the weekend. The line-up is full of gems that no techno fan could resist without dying a little bit inside. Boasting 8 arenas throughout the weekend you can expect the arts such as Carl Cox, Adam Beyer, and Sven Vath, to be making an appearance. Along with the heavyweights comes a fantastic line up for you to really dig your teeth into, with a good amount of artists performing twice this year, as well as b2b sets across the weekend making the festival that little bit more interesting.
