Though we were pleased with the result of our efforts, we made a few more tweaks to our organization recently. Cory Portner has assumed the Director of Membership position to better serve our current and future members. Don Moffatt will now focus the majority of his energy on our CIT educational pro- grams and John Monteleone will continue to develop our CRA courses and professional designation. In addition to our staffing changes, we have also fully implemented a new association management software tool that will allow us to improve communica- tion with our members and launch new resources and benefits in the future. The objective of these changes is to capitalize on our staff's strengths, grow our member- ship base and enhance our service for current and future members. Most people rarely view changing for change's sake as a good idea. Because of this attitude, many organizations only make changes when their external competitive environ- ment requires them to do so. Sometimes organizations need to shake things up to interrupt their internal routines and processes that over time stifle creativity, innovation and adaptability. I believe that the old cliché "You can't keep doing the same thing and expect different results" still rings true today for every organization, big and small, profit and non-profit. That is why STAR has made the changes we have in our organization and will continue to do so as necessary to achieve our mission: "To be the premier national organization designed to foster the development, growth and success of ice skating facilities in the United States."
