As in years past, STAR sponsored the event and par- ticipated in the trade show. STAR was also invited to participate in the North East Ice Skating Managers Association (NEISMA) annual spring conference held April 28-30 in Uncasville, Conn. In addition to being an event sponsor and trade show exhibitor, Cory Portner, director of membership, delivered a SIRO course for NEISMA members. STAR would like to thank both WIAMA and NEISMA for the opportunity to contribute to their membership events each year. STAR Assists the Target Center During the NCHC Championship STAR staff members Don Moffatt, Senior Director of Educational Programs, and Cory Portner, Director of Membership, served as lead ice technicians for the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) inaugural league championship tournament held March 20-22 at Target Center in Minneapolis. Calling all Certified Ice Technicians Individuals who have been awarded the Certified Ice Technician (CIT) professional designation by STAR are required to recertify every five years from the year their CIT was originally achieved. In addition, individuals must also maintain an annual STAR Membership to keep their CIT professional designation valid. Individuals who were awarded their CIT in the years 2003-2009, and have not already successfully completed the CIT Recertification course or passed the CIT recertification exam within the last five years will be required to recertify in 2014. There are two ways for individuals to recertify their CIT professional designation in 2014: 1. Attend and successfully complete the CIT Recertification (CITR) course at the North American Rink Conference & Expo, May 19-21, 2014, in Columbus, Ohio. 2. Successfully complete the CIT Recertification exam, which will be offered at STAR Regional Training Program locations in summer 2014. For more information about CIT Recertification, please contact Don Moffatt at (719) 538‑1110 or donm@starrinks.com. J Zamboni has the answers for emission-free edging.
