It was a painful walk off the court
for Edwards after missing what
would have been the game-win-
ning shot in the game's final sec-
onds. He was consoled by fellow
freshman Jacquil Taylor moments
after the final play.
A key play in Cincinnati's furious last-
minute comeback was Troy Caupain's
old-fashoned three-point play that cut
the Boilermaker lead to a single point.
Just nine seconds earlier, Purdue looked
to have the game in hand, holding a
56-49 lead.
Caupain (in the bottom right of the photo) reacts
after hitting the game-tying shot as time expired
in regulation. The ball hung on the rim for a sec-
ond before dropping in, forcing the first overtime
for the Boilermakers in NCAA play since 2010.
Octavius Ellis was ejected after
being whistled for a flagrant
foul against A.J. Hammons with
16:22 left in the second half. The
Bearcats hung tough without
their most productive player
— Ellis led the team in scoring,
rebounding and blocks.
