on, but is willing to wait until that technology is fully realized, before they want to start taking advantage of it in their complete package program. “There’s been a rash of different multi-speed gearboxes using four, five and six speeds,” says Kroyer. “That stuff has been pretty quick in qualifying but it hasn’t yet proven to be reliable on race day. But at some point, someone is going to figure it out and there will definitely be a time when we will help drive that market.” Teaching A New Generation Of Engine Builders Now in his 50’s Kroyer is definitely working towards moving into another phase in his life and career. “25 years ago, when I started working with Walker Evans, if you had asked me if I would still be working at all this at 50, I would have probably thought you were crazy,” says Kroyer. But with the passion for winning as fresh now as it was back then, it’s infectious to the younger generation of engine builders who want to learn from his experiences. “The next generation is here already. We have some bright young talent that have been here 8-10 years driving some of their own innovation, and want to hear about winning,” says Kroyer. “We have a great partnership with University of Las Vegas SAE team. Our goal is to bring young minds with education and exposing them to the real racing world environment.” 038 SCORE JOURNAL
