ARP Product Guide For LS Engines Industry leading fastener manufacturer ARP has just made things easier for anyone building an LS-series engine by publishing a handy eight page Product Guide that lists everything the company makes for the popular Third Generation GM LS-platform small-block. Important internal engine fasteners, including cylinder head studs and bolts, main studs and bolts, and connecting rod bolts, are listed in the catalog. It also includes key external fasteners like damper bolts. Also detailed are ARP’s wide variety of polished stainless steel and black oxide finished chrome-moly studs and bolts in both hex and 12-point models for exhaust, intake, valve cover, oil pan and other applications. ARP’s complete Engine & Accessory Fastener Kit is also covered. All ARP fasteners are proudly made in-house to stringent AS9100 and ISO-9001 quality control standards. The LS brochure is available online at www.arp-bolts.com or call ARP’s tech team at 800-826-3045. Jesel GM LS Shaft Rocker Systems As the popularity of GM’s LS-series of engines continues to grow, so does the number of both O.E. and aftermarket cylinder heads. This however, makes it difficult to match the cylinder heads with the right rocker shafts. So Jesel’s Custom Shop has designed and prototyped new shaft rocker kits for the most popular LS cylinder heads on the market. The kit offers engine builders the option of selecting rocker shaft pivot length, rocker ratio, rocker body design (solid, slotted or Mohawk) and more. In addition, a number of options such as special ball-type adjusters in place of Jesel’s standard tool steel pushrod cup adjusters are available. Regardless of which style rocker selected, the rocker bodies are CNC-machined out of Jesel’s proprietary 7000 series alloy, with profiled tails for rocker cover clearance, and are shot-peened for added strength. Other standard features include billet steel stands with ARP attaching hardware, centerless-ground rocker shafts and select-fit needle bearings. One of the challenges for serious LS racers is that the factory design is very compact, and doesn’t leave much room for the large springs, long pivot lengths and high rocker ratios typical in today’s extreme output engines. Jesel’s Custom Shop is available to mill various cylinder heads for clearance and to provide a rocker cover solution to run these big cams and springs.
