Faro Blanco Yacht Club & Resort receives ValvTect Marina of the Year Award Faro Blanco Yacht Club & Resort received the ValvTect Petroleum's 2016 Marina of the Year Award, presented at the International Marina & Boatyard Conference in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. "The revival of Faro Blanco has been fi fteen years in the making; our company and our team, with the help of the City of Marathon, were deeply humbled to have the opportunity to restore the property" said Bill Spottswood, who led the redevelopment ef- fort on behalf of Spottswood Companies. "As lifelong Keys residents, every effort was made to remain true to the resort's legacy and its place within the community. Denys Lapointe inducted into NMMA Canada Hall of Fame The National Marine Manufacturers Asso- ciation in Canada announced it has inducted Denys Lapointe, executive vice president of BRP's Design & Innovation Centre, into the NMMA Hall of Fame. "Denys has contributed greatly to the ad- vancement of the marine industry over the years and has propelled our industry for- ward through his per- severance in creating intelligently designed products that meet consumer interests," said Sara Anghel, NMMA executive di- rector and vice presi- dent of government relations. "We honor him with the Hall of Fame award in recog- nition of his constant focus on innovation, leadership and dedication to the industry." Lapointe and the Sea-Doo team de- signed and launched the fi rst two-passen- ger watercraft with a V-Hull, rotary-valve engine, producing a class-leading 55 HP, capable of cutting through chip and pulling a water skier. In 2014, Lapointe, his design team, and BRP's engineering team, led the creation of the Sea-Doo Spark. Lapointe also led the design team that developed the look of the Evinrude G2. Safe Harbor Marinas acquires Brewer Yacht Yard Group Safe Harbor Marinas has acquired Brewer Yacht Yard Group, a marina company led by industry veteran Jack Brewer. The trans- action makes Safe Harbor the largest owner and operator of marinas in the world with 63 properties housing over 30,000 members' boats.
