BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE THE RAIN ROOM A beautiful and surreal experience at the Barbican. Ever wondered what it would feel like to possess the powers of an omnipotent god? The Barbican Centre brings you the Rain Room at the Curve, a 100 square metre field of rainfall that the public are invited to walk into. The innovative digital-based contemporary art uses sensors that detect where visitors are standing to stop the rain around them, giving them an experience of how it might feel to control rain. It is an exercise of trust into the creators of this technology, creating the juxtaposed feelings of both power and vulnerability. Highlights in the coming months include Aidan Lavelle (Crosstown Rebels) launching his new night Techstyle on No- vember 10th, Soulful House supremo Neil Pierce (Fanatix) on November 2nd, Fluid even offers free entry before 9pm both Fri- day and Saturday and with a reliable pro- gramme of deep house, techno, funk and nu-disco Djs week-in, week out.
