GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS: BENNY L 44 ISSUE 110 / 2018 Regarded as an innovator and guardian of the jungle and drum scenes, Fabio has always been and still is a leading exponent of the respective genres. After dropping, Route Zero, his four track Ep, on Metalheadz this time last year, Benny L has firmly cemented himself as one of the brightest young producers on the scene. Low Blow, the lead track from the EP and a serious dancefloor banger, is still one of our favourites and found itself on the playlist of Goldie, Randall, Doc Scott and many more. He's now back with a new release, Summoned crammed full of his big bassy productions, heavy drums and unique sounds that sit perfectly with the Metalheadz sound. Expect big things to come from him in the future! Although there has been a resurgence in the use of classic jungle and hardcore samples in recent years in UK bass music productions, many current and younger ravers will rarely have been privy to jungle and hardcore sets with tracks that date back to the pre-2000 and early 2000s raves such as Fantasia, One Nation, Slamming Vinyl, along with their accompanying and now legendary tape packs. Having regularly performed with the likes of LTJ Bukem and his brother-in-arms Grooverider over the years, Fabio's knowledge of the music and professionalism has won him vast plaudits over the years, as well as regularly DJing for BBC Radio 1 and 1xtra. Fabio and his guests on the night will be lighting up Camden Assembly on 7th September. Get down there with your best dancing shoes on for a night which promises to be a highly energetic, fun-filled education in old sku jungle and hardcore. Truly one for the old sku bassheads and lovers of the UK bass music scene alike. ALBUM OF THE MONTH: ENTER KILLBOX'S PLEASURE PALACE IF YOU DARE Ever since Ed Rush & Audio combined minds for Killbox, drum & bass gained a titanic force. They're back with their latest heat - Pleasure Palace Now this next piece of work from them is their biggest yet, a stellar 14 tracked LP. Razor-sharp beats, atomic drops and immense build ups are on full display as these two veterans of the scene add another epic milestone to their impressive credentials. The album gained traction before it was release with tunes like 'Neverwhere', 'Clickbait' & 'Cousin of Zilch' making their way into some of the biggest sets. The whole release has finally landed, given selectors even more fire to reach for. Straight up power oozes in tracks 'Real World', 'Troll Eater' & 'Shoreditch Shuffle'. Low level rollers 'GoldFoot' & 'Delete Profile' plough though while straight up stompers 'Witchfinder' & 'Kutz' leave their mark. This album builds on everything these two have been releasing since their first coming together. This album is not to be missed if you like things heavy and dark.
