Mackey Arena
was in rare form
when more than
14,000 Purdue
basketball
T-shirts were
distributed to the
capacity crowd of
14,642, breathing life into
the facility for
Purdue's game
vs. Ohio State.
The Boilermakers
got behind early
to OSU, but the
crowd remained
electric throughout most of the
contest.

This Week In Purdue History
Jan. 15, 1993 • Cindy Lamping scores a career-high 33 points, but the No. 12 Boilermakers drop a
84-78 decision to No. 10 Ohio State in Mackey Arena. At the time Lamping's effort was the fourth-best
in school annals and still ranks in the top 10 all-time. The 5-foot-10 guard from Batesville averaged 16
points that season as a sophomore, the high for her career.
Jan. 15, 2000 • In what would be the first of four head-to-head contests in the same season, something that hasn't happened before or since in Boilermaker basketball history, Purdue defeats Wisconsin
63-52 in Mackey Arena. Brian Cardinal matched a career-high with five three pointers and
scored 26 points. The Badgers, however, won the final three matchups in the season, including an Elite Eight win in Albuquerque.
Jan. 14, 2004 • Gene Keady records his 500th victory at Purdue with a 53-51 win over
No. 19 Wisconsin. Badgers' leading scorer Devin Harris had a last-second three-point attempt that just missed, which would have put a wet blanket on Purdue's celebration. Austin Parkinson hit 5-of-6 free throws at crunch time to help make the difference.
"Purdue did a
great job. They
played hard,
they played
together and I
want to try to
get my team
to do the same
thing."
Penn State coach
Patrick Chambers after
Purdue's win on Sunday
