32 FALL 2020 attractive. It features an island in the middle with the range on one side, a large cabinet for breakfast items on the other, and a bank of light gray cabinetry on the back wall, which houses the refrigerator, sink, and a desk area placed cleverly in front of a window. "Color and texture are as unique to each space as are our clients," says Accioly of combining the light grey cabinetry with the navy blue of the island and breakfast cabinet. "They should be a reflection of the architectural personality of both the space and the individual." It might have seemed like too much cabinetry if it was all the same color and the kitchen also gets a lot of natural light, so the dark blue helps punctuate the space. While special attention was paid to every detail, the breakfast cabinet is especially well thought out. Consisting of two tall cabinets with open walnut shelving in the center, it stores the coffee maker and all the breakfast necessities and has ample and convenient storage of overflow items like the broom. "With the needs of this active family in mind, the breakfast area is an interactive space that keeps the kitchen organized by providing a specific location for the morning routine," says Accioly. "It is perfect to house coffee and tea supplies, bowls, mugs, and breakfast essentials all within easy reach. The color of the floating walnut shelves coordinate with the Rove Concepts barstools at the island, while the bronze cabinet hardware, which nshoremag.com/nshorehome/ No kitchen would be complete these days without a workstation. stands out from both the gray and navy cabinetry, coordinates with antique brass light fixtures. But the most important element is that the kitchen is open and feels cohesive with the spaces around it. "From the kitchen the clients can now keep an eye on their kids in the living room and guests in the dining room," says Accioly. "The goal was to open up the space and connect the adjacent areas for a more spacious and family friendly home." Having welcomed their third child this year, Carrie and Matthew's need for a home with more space to grow is certainly paying off—especially this renovated kitchen. They use it day in and day out, for meals, snacks, baking projects, entertaining and much, much more. "We're putting it to good use for sure," says Carrie. jewettfarms.com kitchens
