3. Stabilised Chlorine: Also called Dichlor: Chemical name is Sodium Dichloroiscyanurate. Therefore it is sodium (salt) based as is liquid chlorine. How do you identify it? The label will say that it is Sodium Dichloroiscyanurate. It is a free flowing granular product that is totally soluble; therefore it is suitable for all pool surfaces. It is used for general day to day chlorination as well as for super chlorinating and shocking. Stabilised Chlorine has another major benefit. It has a stabiliser (acts as a sunscreen) added which aids in the loss of chlorine due to sunlight dissipating the chlorine from the water. 4. 5 In 1: (Note: This product may not be available outside of Australia. You will need to ask your local pool professional) Chemical name is Trichloriosocyanuric Acid (Plus additional other chemicals). This is the strongest of all chlorination products. Not only does it sanitise water but it contains additional chemicals that aid with Controlling Algae, Clarifying Water, Lowering pH and Reducing Loss of Chlorine due to sunlight. It is very slow dissolving and comes in either a granular form or in tablets. The tablets can be floated in a tablet floater in the pool. Due to the strength of this product is so strong it is not recommended for vinyl lined pool, as it could bleach the colour out of the liner. 5. Trichlor Tablets: Chemical name is Trichloriosocyanuric Acid. Used mainly in floaters (floating tablet dispenser) and especially useful when going on holiday, as they are very slow dissolving and very strong. While you're away your pool continues to be chlorinated. TIP: Try not to purchase chemicals from cash and carry organisations that do not have the facility to offer support and advice.
