This is the measure of the total alkalinity (TA) and is a measure of how many alkaline substances there are in the water. It is measured in parts per million (ppm). In swimming pool water, total alkalinity should be between 80 ppm (parts per million) and 120 ppm. If alkalinity is too low, use pH Buffer to increase the alkalinity. If it is too high, use Hydrochloric Acid (HCL) or Dry Acid. It is worthwhile to note that Buffer is Sodium Bicarbonate, commonly known as Bicarb or Bicarb of Soda. You can use this versatile safe and biodegradable product for many things just a few are listed below. Clean bathroom tiles Sprinkle Bicarbonate of Soda on a damp sponge, scrub, and rinse clean. Refresh stuffed toys Sprinkle Bicarbonate of Soda on the stuffed animal, let sit for fifteen minutes, and then brush off. Clean high chairs, car seats, strollers Sprinkle Bicarbonate of Soda on a damp sponge, wipe clean, and dry. Deodorise kitchen garbage Sprinkle a handful of Bicarbonate of Soda in the garbage pail each time you add garbage. Clean a microwave oven Sprinkle Bicarbonate of Soda on a damp sponge, scrub, and rinse. Clean a stainless steel sink or a refrigerator Sprinkle Bicarbonate of Soda on a damp sponge, scrub the sink, and rinse clean. 27 For Total Alkalinity
