What are some general hints and safety issues? • As with all chemicals – KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. • NEVER EVER ADD WATER TO CHEMICALS. ONLY EVER ADD CHEMICALS TO WATER. • Never mix chemicals together. • Store all chemicals in an upright position in a cool dry place. • If transporting Liquid Chlorine remember that by law it must have a vented cap to allow gas to escape. It must be transported in a secure and upright position. If it falls over in your vehicle the vent will be unable to allow gas to escape due to the liquid blocking it. It can spill and damage your upholstery or worse the gas can rupture the container. • If having your liquid chlorine container filled, ensure you are using an approved Dangerous Goods container. If you do not have an approved container you will need to purchase one from your Pool Professional. • Test water at least twice weekly. Your pool is a living organism and airborne particles and bacteria can be introduced at any time. • Add chemicals in the evening outside swimming hours. • Super chlorinate or Shock Treat weekly through summer. Salt pools included. Your chlorinator doesn't know it has been extremely hot or the pool has experienced heavy bather loads. • Add chemicals with the filter running for at least 2-3 hours. 48
