When using Floc it is imperative to closely follow the directions to ensure a successful outcome. Never add to a pool that has a cartridge filter without taking the cartridge out. Never add Floc to the pool with a sand filter unless it is set to recirculate. Your Pool Professional will advise you of the correct method. Well, it is a good practise to use a NON Copper algaecide as a preventative on a weekly basis. Many household cleaners and disinfectants have an active constituent of Benzalkonium Chloride. This chemical is often used in household cleaners as a disinfectant or a shower cleaner (of course in a much weaker solution than pool algaecide), but, it is also a common chemical used in swimming pools to assist in killing and preventing algae growth. You know how the tiles in the bathroom get what is referred to as mould? Well that is actually a form of algae. The mortar between the tiles is porous allowing algae to penetrate. It is the same as a pool. Liquid Chlorine (Sodium Hypochlorite) or bleach will eradicate it, and many of your household cleaners are constructed of Benzalkonium Chloride which is used for killing mould (algae) as well. It is very important to note that the strength of household cleaners is much weaker than what is used in swimming pools. Why? Because a swimming pool has a much larger volume of water and obviously is not in a restricted space. Please note: If you should choose to use Liquid Pool Chlorine to clean around your home, please ensure you take the following precautions: Dilute at approximately 10 parts water to 1 part chlorine. Wear rubber gloves and goggles. Do not inhale fumes; wear a face mask designed for chemical use. As with all chemicals - KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. Avoid bala Avoid getting algae in you pool in the first place by ensuring you keep enough sanitiser/chlorine in your pool – keep your water balanced and filter your pool for the required time each day. 35
