GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 22 • 23 at Stetson University in Tampa and Georgia State in Atlanta. The locations Purdue has ID'd for its camps make sense. Boilermaker coaches have been extremely active recruit- ing Nashville, signing one player out of the city and nearly a few others. Several of the best play- ers from the area made unofficial visits to Purdue last winter. It will continue to be an emphasis. And Chicago is a territory the Boilermaker program has histori- cally put an emphasis on. The 2015 signing class, though, was Purdue's first since 2009 that didn't include a recruit from Illinois. R Chazmyn Turner, the de- fensive end who committed to Purdue but did not sign on sign- ing day, remains unsigned. West Virginia offered him a scholarship and has been consid- ered, as well. Neither Turner nor his high school coach, Hal Capps, have been available for comment since signing day. R Purdue will host junior days for Class of 2016 football recruiting visitors on March 7, March 28 and April 11. WOMEN'S RECRUIT HURTS KNEE Lawrence North senior for- ward Lamina Cooper, a Purdue signee, twice left LN's win over Pike with an apparent left knee injury after landing awkwardly in the second quarter. She returned briefly wearing a wrap on the knee, but appeared to re-injure it in the third quarter and did not return. Wildcat coach Chris Giffin said he didn't know the severity of the injury. She was seen walk - ing on the court after the game with a noticeable limp. It's unknown whether Coo- per will be available for Lawrence North's semi-state game Saturday. Cooper has averaged 15-and- a-half points per game this season. "Lamina is a beast," Giffin said before the injury. "I'm going to be in Lafayette more to watch her than I need to be. She's a coach's dream. Her work ethic and versatil- ity and the all-around person that she is, she's special. I think she's going to immediately help the cul- ture, the toughness, the defense and versatility, everything there." BASKETBALL RECRUIT TRACKER S Cline scored 35 points on 10-of-17 shooting, passing the 1,000-point plateau for his career, in Carmel's 73-61 win over War- ren Central Friday night. The win secured for the Grey- hounds their fourth-straight Met- ropolitan Interscholastic Confer- ence championship. S Weatherford scored 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting, with five steals, three rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot in his Hamilton Heights team's 66-53 win at Twin Lakes Saturday. S Walker scored 24 points, with four rebounds, four assists, four blocks and five steals in Tech's 63-53 win over Zionsville. j PURDUE 2015 SIGNEES Player Pos Ht Wt Hometown/School Markus Bailey LB 6-1 205 Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson Fred Brown DT 6-2 260 Boutte, La./Hahnville H.S.
