From the Captains Dear Fellow Myopia Polo Supporters: Welcome to another, the 123rd, season of Myopia Polo. We are proud of the long and unique tradition of polo at Myopia and we are excited about its future. Gibney Field, our primary tournament venue, is the oldest polo grounds in America, and we are fortunate that we continue to create opportunities for generations of Myopia polo players, supporters, and spectators to enjoy polo on this beau- tiful property. We are also proud of the high quality of play for which our program is known. Once again, we welcome top-quality American and Argentine players to our club. Our tournament season in July and August showcases some of the most competitive polo in the Northeast. It is worth noting that some of our members compete at the highest level of the sport and have done so for decades—notably Crocker Snow, Kurt Miller, Dave Strouss, and Bill Coke. We are always looking to introduce new players and enthusiasts to our thrilling sport. This year, we will once again offer tourna- ments, programs, clinics, and lessons on the three polo fields that Myopia maintains, as well as our recently refurbished arena. We have been very pleased to introduce a number of young players to polo—some of whom are featured in this magazine. We will maintain our long tradition of family polo: this year, in addition to our own children, we will have several parent-child combinations, including the Snows, the Grahams, the Cokes, and the Poors. We welcome less experienced players to join us. If you enjoy riding, please consider trying polo. We encourage you to follow our activities and get updates on schedules, clinics, and lessons at our website, myopiapolo.org, or by calling the club at 978-468-POLO. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Thank you for your interest, and we wish everyone a great summer season. Top: Franz Colloredo-Mansfeld and his sons, Johann, Seppi, and Simon.
