Player Profiles Francoise Martinolle Francoise picked up polo at the university level and has played ever since. She current- ly plays with Myopia Coaching League and enjoys fox hunting, showing and eventing her other horses. She resides in Boxford Mass. (Rating: 0 outdoors and indoors) Robert Mehm High points for Bob last sum- mer were playing for the Brit- ish Army Team and winning the Heritage Cup at Sandhurst Military Academy; he was a finalist in the Geneva Masters and at the Stockholm Open. In November Bob traveled to Nepal and won the 29th World Elephant Polo Champion- ships. This winter he played in the Maha- rajah's Jubilee Cup in Jodhpur, India. Bob also competed in the Nations Cup in Dubai, followed by an Asian Polo Tour with events in Singapore and Thailand. (Indoor and outdoor rating: 1) Max Mendel Originally from Holland, Max moved to the U.S. in 1984 to study engineering at MIT. He started playing polo with Myopia in 2003 and has played in various tournaments in the US and in Europe. He currently lives in Salem and looks forward to the day his one year old son, Herman, will join him on the field. Kurt Miller A veteran Myopia Player, Kurt is a regular participant in all levels of Myopia Polo, bringing steady play and hard-riding style to the game. He often plays in Chile during the winter and several of his ponies were purchased there. He is lives in Hamil- ton with his wife, Jackie, and their children, and works in real estate management. Bryan Parrott A 0-goal player, Bryan has played off and on for the past 14 years. He has split his years playing between Byfield Polo and Myopia and says he's looking forward to this year at Myopia, where the game is always challenging. Alyson Poor Alyson's career with animals started at age seven, when she began riding and playing polo at her father's polo school in Hamilton. Alyson also competed in show jumping and fox hunts from time to time. A student at University of Kentucky, Alyson studies animal science and plays on the varsity polo team. (Rated 0 or A) Amanda Poor Amanda, an avid sports- woman of Ipswich, has played polo for over 15 years. A Merrimack College grad, she currently works in sales at EBSCO Publish- ing in Ipswich. (Rating: 0) Estanislao Robledo Puch With a handicap of 3 in Argen- tina and 2 in the U.S., Estanislao has played at Myopia for the last seven years. He divides his time between the U.S. and Argentina, where he runs El Rincon del Polo Club & School outside Buenos Aires in the winter months. Neil "Jed" St. John Raymond, Jr. Jed grew up playing polo with his dad, former Myopia Polo captain Ted Raymond, as part of the Maplecroft Farms team, and has played in the U.S., Argentina and the U.K. A Middlebury College and Harvard Graduate School of Design alum, he is an asset man- ager for Cabot Properties, Inc. (3 goals) 22 Myopia polo 2011 Bissy Riva Bissy Riva has played polo for several years and mainly en- joys the sport as a hobby. She often plays with her broth- ers at the farm in the summer time. She is currently attending St. Paul's school in Con- cord, N.H., where she is active in lacrosse. Christian Riva Chris majors in history and global studies at the Univer- sity of California at Santa Barbara. At the end of last season, he drove his string of ponies cross- country and played the fall season with the Santa Barbara Polo Club; he will play this fall in the 8-10 goal tournaments at Santa Barbara Polo Club. An avid ice hockey player, Chris played for UCSB throughout the winter. (2 goals) Nick Riva A recent Stanford grad, Nick will spend this summer working at UBS Bank in New York City before returning to Stanford in the fall for grad school. Nick grew up playing polo at Myopia and has enjoyed playing on the West Coast with the Stanford Polo Club. He recently attended the USPA West Intercollegiate Regional Finals at the Santa Barbara Polo Club. (2 Goals) Steve Rudolph Steve Rudolph is in his third season at Myopia. A lifelong New Englander, Steve cur- rently resides in Newburyport with his wife, Sarah, and is a partner at McKinsey & Company's Boston office, pro- viding strategy consulting for clients in the U.S. and Latin America.
