The report is available at www.atri-online.org. • The American Trucking Associations urged the U.S. Department of Transportation to reject an application by the Commonwealth of Virginia to toll Interstate 95, saying it would be bad for trucking companies and consumers in the state and across the United States. • The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced a new grant program that will provide about $17.5 million to states that have laws banning dis- tracted driving in fiscal year 2013. • The Obama administration made more than $470 million in unspent earmarks avail- able immediately to states for projects that will both create jobs and help improve the nation's infrastructure. • Annual worldwide sales of natural gas trucks and buses will more than double over the next seven years, growing from less than 70,000 in 2012 to more than 180,000 in 2019, according to Pike Research. Almost one million of these vehicles will be sold from 2012 to 2019, the study found. • Christopher Barnett of Ryder System was named grand champion of the eighth annual TMC SuperTech competition in Pittsburgh.
