FESTIVAL OVERVIEW WELCOME TO SXSW INTERACTIVE Welcome to the 2013 SXSW Interactive Festival, where creativity, innovation and inspiration are the most important currencies of conversation. We are thrilled about all of the amazing panel content, networking events and social activities that will take place over the next few days. We are even more excited about all of the meaningful connections that will occur in Austin now through Tuesday. As always, we encourage you to put down your laptop or smart phone and interact face-toface with your neighbor! Got a new idea for the 2014 event? Your feedback is an extremely valuable part of the ongoing SXSW organizational process. Please help us continue to improve by sending us your innovative proposals for new activities (as well as your comments on what you liked and what you didnt like about this years event). We read all of your email and your input plays a large role in shaping the next edition (scheduled for March 711, 2014). SXSW Interactive is a community event and the more we understand about our community, the more relevant this event becomes. Please reach us at inter@sxsw.com. Also, if you like the SXSW Interactive Festival, consider attending the all-new SXSW V2V event (August 1114 in Las Vegas). For 2013, weve made a number of improvements to our materials that will allow you to create your best SXSW yet. This Books Schedule is Divided by Venue MERRICK ALES With multiple venues organized around particular themes, SXSW Interactive is many events in one. In order to help you more easily navigate the event and discover new ideas, we have divided the daytime programming in this book by venue. This allows you to better explore the Panels, Core Conversations, Meet Ups and Workshops around a general topic of your choosing. Want to challenge yourself, get outside your comfort zone and learn about another side of the industry? Attend sessions at an adjacent venue and maximize those serendipitous moments that happen only at SXSW. Mobile Resources The Everything-in-Your-Pocket Guide Want to take a look at all the sessions and parties in one abbreviated, chronological list? Then take a look at the portable Interactive Pocket Guide for the complete lineup of events by day. JW WALTHALL Online Schedule and Mobile App Searching for that one inspirational speaker?
