There are times when the same issues re-surface on a regular basis no matter what remedial actions are taken. These remedial actions could have been the results of your own best judge- ment, discussion with staff deriving on a consensus for the appropriate action to take, discussions with peers from other facilities who may have faced To Seek or Not To Seek Consulting similar issues, or even actions derived from focus groups comprised of your clients within the facility, etc. There are also times when all operational as- pects of your department seem to be running smoothly and you wonder if the department is providing optimum service. Senior administration may not al- ways consider your challenges with the same viewpoint. Your viewpoint is from the operation with a knowledge and understanding of the housekeep- ing field that senior administration may not have. Where can you turn to for solutions to the above challenges? Seeking solutions or affirmation (of actions taken) from an outside source should be viewed and accepted as another 'tool' in trying to achieve an optimum operational serv- ice level from the resources within your department. There is always the question of when is it necessary to seek out these outside services?
