turned upside down when his father, Randy, died from a heart attack on June 10, 2010, at age 52. "It wasn't easy, I'll say that," Bivin recalled. "But I had to show some resilience through adversity that really taught me about things at a young age … I won't say I'm glad it did, but learning that lesson when I did has helped me throughout my high school years to deal with tough situations. It's all about being able to bounce back, and it's an inspiration to me when I'm on the field and competing in anything." With Harris off to college, Hunter became the man of the house prior to his sophomore year, while he and his mother, Sherry, provided moral support to each other at home. "My dad had always taught me, 'There is no point in feeling sorry for yourself, because it doesn't get you anywhere.'" Bivin said. "So I just kind of held my chin up and got done whatever need to be done." Bivin went on to post a 3.4 grade-point aver- age (4.0 scale) while starring in three sports. In this year 's top-five Notre Dame class, Bivin and outside linebacker Jaylon Smith were the two Fighting Irish representatives on the 57-man Parade All-American team. Bivin's father, Randy, was the first student at Apollo to earn an athletic scholarship in any sport when he played football at the University of Evansville. Meanwhile, Harris Bivin is now married and also the starting center on the Murray State football
