If so, you’re not alone. The American Miniature Horse Association (the world’s leading Miniature Horse registry) boasts registration numbers of nearly 185,000 horses and more than 11,000 members in 38 countries and provinces. Founded in 1978, this organization promotes the breeding, use and perpetuation of a standard of equine excellence in min- iature, separate and apart from ponies and other small equine. Horses registered with AMHA must meet the association standard of perfection and cannot exceed 34 inches in height at the withers as measured from the races on Sunday, Sept.5, 6, 10 and 11. A season ticket may be purchased for $10 with a racing license. Limit of two tickets per horse with a limit of six tickets per owner. These tickets are good for the outside gate and the afternoon grandstand all four days. There will be 8 to 10 races per day as per the Pari-Mutuel Plan. Races and conditions are made to suit the horses at the track. last hairs of the mane. The group was formed in 1978 in Arlington, Texas. The goal was simple, to encourage the breeding, exhibiting, use and perpetuation of the American Miniature Horse, separate and apart from ponies and other small equines. Until that time, breeders of American Miniature Horses had limited options avail- able for the registration, exhibition and pro- motion of their horses. These days, “mini-horse” exhibitions and competitions are a staple of state fairs, and the EISF is certainly no exception. For this year’s fair, the miniatures will be divided into two categories: 34 inches and under, and over 34 but not to exceed 38 inches. In the halter class, premiums are paid out in numerous categories for fillies, mares, colts, stallions and geldings. There will also be a champion mare and stallion. Performance class prizes will be awarded for costume (originality, presentation, safety), showman- ship, obstacles, jumping and team categories. sundAy, septemBer 5 on the Grounds 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Buildings open 1 p.m. carnival rides open portneuF medicAl center - West ArenA AreA All day hand Washing station “how clean Are your hands?” 10am-4pm mammograms Available All day Free Blood pressure screenings, Body-Fat Analysis, Bmi, and Wii Fitness pAVilion 9 a.m. sheep show rABBit BArn 9 a.m. rabbit show-youth mAin ArenA GrAndstAnd 12 noon pari-mutuel racing-indian relay races 7 p.m. rocky mountain pullers Association (r.m.p.A.) truck and tractor pull key BAnk community Free stAGe 12:30 p.m. t.c. hatter w/marcianne 2:00 pm dick hardwick 3:30 pm t.c. hatter w/marcianne 5:00 p.m. dick hardwick 8:30 p.m. (various local entertainers & bands will perform—check daily posted stage schedules for performers and times) needlecrAFt BuildinG 10 a.m. 16th Annual high desert homebrew competition and homemade Wine competition presented by high desert Brewers Association 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. home Arts demos 6:30 p.m. “Bake your Best muffin” Judging West ArenA 9 a.m. miniature horse show West eVents AreA 10 a.m. dock dogs 10 a.m. onsite registration/ practice 11 a.m. Big Air WAVe competition # 4 1 a.m. Big Air WAVe competition # 5 3:30 p.m. speed retrieve competition # 2 5:30 p.m. speed retrieve Finals 6 p.m. Big Air Finals (pro, semi-pro & Amateur Finals) West eVents stAGe 4 p.m. ZiV 5 p.m. michael swenson comedy hypnosis show 8:30 p.m. ZiV 9:30 p.m. michael swenson comedy hypnosis show funatthEfair.com 25
