All distances shall be measured from the center of the tree trunk at ground level. ANSI Standards There is hereby adopted as an official code for the maintenance of trees, shrubs and other woody plants that certain stan- dard maintenance practice as published in ANSI Standard A300 (Part I)—2001, as published by the American National Standards Institute, Inc. and approved on May 22, 2001. There is also hereby adopted as an official code, that certain safety standard for planting and mainte- nance of trees in proximity to utility lines, known as ANSI Z133.1 as published by the American National Standards Insti- tute, Inc., May 22, 2001 Edition. One copy of each of such codes shall be filed with and main- tained in the office of the City Clerk, for examination by the public. C: When digging the planting hole, make the depth equal to the height of the root ball and the diameter 2-5 times the diam- eter of the root ball. D. Place the tree in the center of the hole. Remove all burlap and wire baskets from the root ball. Backfill the hole with the native soil. The soil backfill should be even with the top of the root ball. E. Organic matter may need to be added to provide aeration, retain moisture and reduce compaction. The organic mixture should not exceed a 2/3 native soil and 1/3 organic matter. F. Water the tree until saturated. Wait for five minutes and water again. Through- out the summer water the tree at least once a week for several minutes. G.
