2017 / ISSUE 100 21 FESTIVALS With 73 acts present at Tramlines this year, Sheffield is sure to have something for everyone on the weekend of the 21st-23rd July. This city based festival is back and ready to pop off! Headlining at this year's festival are the Libertines, All Saints, Primal Scream, Kano and Metronomy. Joining the headliners are the funky Hot 8 Brass Band who will hopefully smash out their brass rendition of Marvin Gaye's 'Sexual Healing'. Since their 2016 comeback its the band you can't help but get excited for. Politically conscious and creative rapper Akala will also be performing, adding even more variety to this already vibrant and dynamic festival. For each day there is an extensive choice of after parties and club nights to continue the festival partying into the early hours; with DJs and dance artists such as DJ Q, Flava D and Cause & Affect, to just name a few. However, the best thing about Tramlines is its affordability - now on its final tier the festival is still less than £50 for the weekend. Of course - pair this with the attractive drinks & prices further north and you have no excuse not to go! Coming to Printworks from the 22nd - 23rd July this summer, the Afropunk London lineup is already looking too sick for words! For over 14 years the festival has been known for its multiculturalism and diversity for people of all races, genders, colours and tastes. Unlike most festivals, Afropunk "is less concerned with genres and pigeonholes than the strength and unity of otherness." Which is why it boasts of a fusion of genres from grime, punk, soul, hip-hop, reggae, pop and plenty more. Stepping up to this eclectic lineup is Danny Brown, Corinne Bailey Rae, Jazzie B, Little Simz, Kojey Radical, Nadia Rose & more! Other than roping in heavyweight acts, the festival will also host a bunch of pop-ups, from food stalls, art exhibitions and DJ sets from several talented up and coming artists. So if you fancy a festival where you can be yourself, and as weird as you like with no one batting an eye, get your tickets now! TRAMLINES IS THE CHEAPEST PLACE TO GET WASTED AT THIS SUMMER! AFROPUNK RETURNS WITH JME, LIANNE LA HAVIS, WILLOW SMITH, NAO & THUNDERCAT!
