Keynote speakers included former Senator George Mitch-
ell, who spoke about negotiating in a polarized world, and
Tim Urban, whose presentation "Wait, But Why?" dealt with
understanding and accepting procrastination. Mitchell served
15 years as a Democratic senator from Maine, being instru-
mental in the passage of the Clean Air Act and the Americans
with Disabilities Act.
Business sessions included a panel discussion on diversity,
featuring the CEO of Marriott and Diageo president Dierdre
Mahlan, a session on international trade featuring Julien He-
mard from Pernod Ricard USA, the Asst. Director of Valida-
tion and Compliance at Customs and Border Protection, and
Tom LaFaille, VP and International Trade Counsel for the
Wine Institute.
The control state industry will next gather at the NABCA
Administrators Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan on
October 22-25. •
