TRACK OF THE MONTH: BREAK, RANDALL & DLR - 'SONG AND DANCE' Celebrating 15 years since it started, Breakbeat Kaos drops a mad tune from DJ Fresh, Phantasy & Macky Gee. Combinations don't get much bigger than this! Break, Randall & DLR have all teamed up and produced that badman tune that is 'Song and Dance'. Randall & Break are both rightful legends. The pair have pioneered the drum & bass sounds that we know and love today. DLR is from a new generation of drum & bass soldiers, keeping things moving forward. The sound engineering on this is faultless, crisp drums work the rhythm as a beefy wonk of a bassline works the subs. Watch out for that funky arsed breakdown too! DJ Fresh's label has been quite for a while, though back in its heyday the label's brand was behind some of the biggest tunes of it's time. Signings included Pendulum, Nero, Brookes Brothers, Chase & Status, Sigma - not forgetting the quality tunes from Fresh himself. Reclaiming it's position in the game, Breakbeat's Fresh called in two prolific jump up heads to make the first return release extra special. The end result 'Civilization', is an energy packed jabber, with a rightly epic orchestral intro. We expect this one to be trashing it over the summer and beyond. We're promised that this is the first of many from the Breakbeat Kaos camp, it's been a while but welcome back lads! NEWS: BREAKBEAT KAOS IS BACK WITH KILLER COLLAB! ARTIST OF THE MONTH: FOX STEVENSON Unhindered by the constraints of a particular genre, Fox Stevenson pushes against imposed limitations. British singer-songwriter Fox Stevenson has been on the scene for a while now and is best known for his 2014 anthem 'Sweets (Soda Pop)' which has racked up over 11 million Spotify streams, and the Curbi collaboration 'Hoo Hah' (5 million Spotify streams), Fox Stevenson's signature liquid drum & bass/glitch hop style are always noticeable on all his tracks. He has just delivered a brilliantly energetic new release called 'Glue Gun/Never Before'; the two-track production is out now. Both tracks are set to cement Fox Stevenson's reputation as one of dance music's most exciting and refreshing talents. 42 ISSUE 109 / 2018 DRUM & BASS PLAYLIST The drum and bass on our playlist this month Jungle Music Jahnglist Bwoy Phased Out Klax Acid Fashion Nazca Linez Intravenous Calyx & TeeBee
