Weekly Pic Interims Do OK In bowl games over the past five years, here is how teams with interim coaches have fared:* Interim because previous coach left for new job: Tom Campbell During the holidays, Purdue studentathletes find many ways to give back. In this case, Jacob Lawson spends some time with Bryan Jackson, 1, giving the toddler his first experience of holiday shopping at the local Meijer. Players on the men���s team contributed some of their per diem and joined with the store and Lafayette family services to provide $300 in gift cards for local families. This Week In Purdue History Dec. 27, 1980 ��� Mark Herrmann���s All-America career concluded on a positive note with a 303yard passing effort in a 28-25 win over Missouri at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn. It was the third straight time Herrmann was named MVP of a bowl game as Purdue finished with a 9-3 mark, winning six of its seven games down the stretch. Jan. 1, 2000 ��� In Purdue���s first appearance on New Year���s Day, the Boilermakers looked great early as they gained a 25-0 lead over Georgia. Yet the Bulldogs pulled the greatest comeback (to date) in bowl history by rallying for a 28-25 win to claim the Outback Bowl trophy. Purdue is 0-3 all-time in games played on Jan. 1. Dec. 27, 2000 ��� The Purdue football team appears on the ���Tonight Show��� as part of its preparation for the 2001 Rose Bowl. Host Jay Leno is presented with a Purdue No. 1 jersey. Leno posed with the team and hit Coach Joe Tiller with some Rogaine jokes.
