Wisconsin Offense
Defensive End
1. Greg Latta 91
6-5, 260, Sr.
15 tackles, 0.5 TFL, 2 PBU*
Latta was productive for the
Boilermakers against Notre
Dame, but only in the first half.
The end sat out the second,
after he aggravated a hamstring injury that
he had suffered earlier in the week. Jalani
Phillips played the most in Latta's absence,
but Purdue's not as good without Latta on
the field.

Watson's statistical production
isn't much, but he's taking up
space in the middle of Purdue's
defensive line, and allowing the
linebackers to better fill holes. That said, you'd
like to see him come up with a play or two
himself occasionally. It'll come with experience.

Defensive End
1. Ryan Russell 99
2. Eric McDaniel 98
2. Jalani Phillips 89
6-2, 310, Sr.
13 tackles, 3.5 TFL, 2 sacks*
Gaston had only a tackle
against the Fighting Irish, his
least productive game of the
season, but he'll need to have
a big one against Wisconsin and its highly
productive rushing attack. Purdue will need
to win some battles up front if it wants to win
the game.
6-2, 310, Sr. (5)
6-3, 245, Jr.
6-3, 240, Jr.
15 tackles, 1 PBU*
Robinson had six tackles against the Irish, as he
continues to play steady for the Boilermakers
this season. He doesn't seem to make many
mistakes and has been a good leader for the
defense. Williams didn't play vs. ND, after being
a Game 1 starter. Purdue has cut down on its rotation at LB.
Defensive Tackle
1. Bruce Gaston Jr. 90
Middle Linebacker
1. Joe Gilliam 39
6-1, 225, Jr.
14 tackles, 1 TFL, 3 PBU*
Gilliam played probably his best game as a
Boilermaker — and we're now saying that
about every week, a good sign for his development — with six tackles, one for loss, a breakup
and a fumble recovery. He's becoming a punishing hitter, like when he jumped in the hole and smacked Amir
Carlisle for a loss. His PBU came on a fourth down.
2. Jimmy Herman 29
6-2, 230, So.
6-5, 270, Jr.
12 tackles, 4 TFL, 2 sacks*
Russell said this week that
he wants to take his game to
another level so that opponents need to game plan
against slowing him down.
Although his season has gotten off to a solid
start, he's not yet there. Russell needs to not
overthink it and just let his ability take over.
6-4, 256, Jr.
Weakside Linebacker
1. Will Lucas 45
5-11, 236, Sr.
12 tackles, 1 PBU*
Lucas has been playing assignment football of
late, for the most part, a development that has
helped solidify Purdue's defense and its linebacker corps. He might still make a mistake or
two, but far less than before. He had six tackles
vs. the Fighting Irish.
2. Andy James Garcia 2
6-0, 218, R-Fr.
6-4, 220, R-Fr.
Cornerback
1. Ricardo Allen 21
Safety
1. Anthony Brown 9
Cornerback
1. Frankie Williams 24

5-9, 186, Sr.
12 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 int., 1 PBU*
Allen was involved in a number
of game-changing plays, and
unfortunately for him — and
the Boilermakers — he wasn't
able to turn them in his favor. Allen nearly had
a pick six and an end zone interception, and
he was beaten for a long touchdown and at
the goal line. There will be better days.

6-0, 180, Sr.
5-10, 192, Jr.
17 tackles, 1 PBU*
Richards was all over the field
Saturday, compiling nine tackles, a pass breakup and forcing
a fumble. It was his best game
in a Purdue uniform. Richards was credited
with that forced fumble in the fourth quarter,
though Allen was in the vicinity, too. He's
coming up big now at big moments.
5-11, 192, So.
5-11, 192, So.
13 tackles, 1 TFL*
Many thought Notre Dame
would test Brown in his first
start — he's filling in for injured
Landon Feichter — but the Irish
never did. And Brown finished with a solid
game with a team second-best seven tackles,
though he had a critical personal foul. The
Boilermakers never played backups.
6-0, 187, R-Fr.
5-9, 185, So.
13 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 int., 2 PBU*
Williams' performance was
mixed vs. ND, pretty typical
for a defensive back. He had a
third-down pass breakup that
ended a Notre Dame drive but was also called
for a third-down pass interference in the end
zone when he had been beaten. Lewis was the
only extra DB to play, and he had two tackles.
