Allen, still nursing a foot injury, couldn't recover, eventually attempting to dive and knock Daniels' feet out from under him. It didn't work, and Daniels cruised in for an 82-yard touchdown that gave Notre Dame the lead. Less than two minutes later, the Irish appeared to seize control.
