4 ILLUSTRATED VOLUME 25, ISSUE 3 f hope it is one of the most productive for the Boilermaker football program. As detailed in this issue, Hazell could sign nearly 30 members of the Class of 2015, so this group will go a long way toward giving a timeta- ble for when to expect football to be relevant again. Brian Neubert's sto- ry, which begins on Page 36, shows how last year's newcomers are far- ing, and it will be critical for some of this year's freshmen who didn't see the field in 2014 come up big in 2015. The men's basketball team started the season with a great deal of prom- ise, only to see it run into a brick wall the past few weeks. To me, the image of Isaac Haas' mouth being lodged on the elbow of Notre Dame's Zach Auguste (right) is a symbol, al- beit maybe a little more cannibalis- tic than I might want, of the choice ahead for men's basketball, and all of Purdue's teams for that matter. They can be stopped by the obstacles in front of them or they can bite (or even scratch and claw if that visual is better) their way through the diffi- culty to get to the winning side. Make sure you check out Kyle Charters' story on divers Steele Johnson and David Boudia, which begins on Page 59. It tells the prom- ise of another possible Olympic run for the Boilermakers in Johnson and perhaps a new side of Gold medalist Boudia. That and the story (Pages 24- 25) of Bridget Perry's balancing act of academics and big-time college basketball provide promise in itself: Promise of a challenging road ahead both on and off the court for a young woman trying to make the most of a college experience. One final promise by the staff of Gold and Black: We remain grateful for your support over our 25 years and we wish you the best in 2015. j Gold and Black Illustrated A publication of Boilers, Inc. 2605 Yeager Road, West Lafayette, IN 47906 765-237-5002 or 1-800-876-GOPU (4678) Fax: 765-497-2110/Twitter.com/GoldandBlackcom President/Publisher Alan Karpick 765-237-5078 AKarpick@GoldandBlack.com Twitter.com/AlanKarpick Editor Brian Neubert BNeubert@GoldandBlack.com Publications Coordinator Kyle Charters KCharters@GoldandBlack.com Associate Editor/Football Stacy Clardie SClardie@GoldandBlack.com Photography/Cover Photo Tom Campbell Graphic Designer Gary A.
