26 Issue 71 / 2015 DNB guestlist.net Artist of the Month silence Groove Progressive trance meets Drum and Bass Guestlist recoMMends 5 YeArs of inGredients, inGredients records. With 25 of the finest tracks from these all star producers, this collection has quality and quantity in spades. You may not be familiar with Ingredients Records, but you will certainly recognise some of the artists they have brought to the limelight, boasting the likes of Dub Phizix, Skeptical, Jubei, Foreign Concept, Mute & Mako, Krakota, Ruffhouse and Response. Suffice to say, Ingredients has its roots firmly planted in some of the most electrifying, forward thinking drum and bass that has graced our dancefloors in recent memory. In celebration of this, Ingredients Records have released "5 Years of Ingredients EP" to showcase the talent that has graced the label over the last half decade, and what a celebration it is. Silence Groove is essentially a progressive trance artist who has stumbled into drum and bass. Early offerings from the Polish DJ are expansive and interesting, see 'Shiny Snow' the first rude essay of an 18 year old. With the 'Eat Me Softly' EP however Silence Groove found that a more rhythmic, measured approach actually counterpoints the flowing progressive texture of previous releases and allows space for melody, which comes in a fairly typical piano- led format. The most recent iteration of this blending is 'Reflection', a single released on Soul Deep. This record has a heavy rhythmic element but still manages to blend a pulsing, glowing background with drifting vocals in the foreground.
