30 Issue 71 / 2015 INDIE/ ROCK guestlist.net On 15 January JJ Abrams and Birdman director, Alejandro González Iñárritu announced the Academy Award nominations. There some very interesting nominations for Best Song. The wonderful 'Everything Is Awesome' from The Lego Movie was a surprise nominee. What's more surprising is that it wasn't nominated in the Best Animated Feature category! The John Legend and Common song 'Glory' for the Civil Rights film Selma was one of only two nominations for the film, although, the other is for Best Picture. Also nominated is 'Grateful' from the film Beyond The Lights, performed by Rita Ora. The final song is 'Lost Starts' from the Keira Knightley film Begin Again News Best OrigiNal sONg Oscar NOmiNees aNNOuNced! And the Academy Award nomination goes to... The new single opens with a wobbling bassline, slapping the listener in the face from the off. Soon after the trademark soaring harmonies swoop in and interweave with Django Django's unmistakable knack for a glorious ear- worm melody. The band have so far announced two warm up live dates in Leeds and Edinburgh, plus a main stage appearance at Field Day festival. track Of the mONth first light By djaNgO djaNgO The four-piece debut their first single from their upcoming second album due to be released this spring. 'I Survive I' was self produced and recorded live in one day at The Soundhouse in Colchester and was mastered by Ed Woods who worked on The Who's recent 'Be Lucky' single. Released on limited edition Vinyl, CD and available to download, the new album features ten brand new tracks and includes the forthcoming single 'The Dead Of The Night' which is set for release on the 19th of January.
