GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 19 • 13 There are oth- er areas that could use a boost, too, freshman Isaac Haas said, point- ing to better com- munication on defense to avoid getting "lost" at points. But if that is cleared up, "I think we could be just unstoppable on defense," he said. And it wouldn't be sur- prising to see a pair of Purdue players on the all-Big Ten team. Center A.J. Ham- mons, who had a career-high eight blocks against Indiana last week, could be a repeat selection, and Painter has another pick. "I think Rapheal Davis with- out question should be on the all- defensive team," Painter said last week. "That's not even a question in my mind. I'm obviously biased, but he's done a really good job for us. Any time you can have a guy who can take challenges on and have that pinpoint responsibility of shutting people down and con- sistently do it, it's important." SCOTT SURFACES Bryson Scott seemed forever banished. From his own making — not following coaches' orders, mostly — the sophomore point guard was stuck on the end of the bench in Big Ten play. In the first seven league games, he played only 17 minutes. In those minutes, he had zero points, four rebounds and two assists. He thought about walking away from the program. He admit - ted he wasn't motivated to give much effort, thinking it wouldn't be rewarded with playing time in games anyway. But the Indiana matchup seemed to suit his gritty, aggres- sive defensive makeup, so Painter gave Scott a shot. And, at least for one game, Scott soared. He was the energizer, scoring 11 points, getting six rebounds 2014-15 PURDUE MEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE Date Opponent Time/Result Nov. 2 CALIFORNIA (Pa.)
