GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 19 • 22 clude offensive and defensive drills on Purdue's three basketball facilities — Cardinal Court, Holloway Gymna- sium and Mackey Arena and will conclude with prizes followed by an autograph session and the Boilermakers' final regular-season home game against Michigan State (2 p.m.). Space for the clinic is limited, and participants are encouraged to register in advance at FeverBasketball. com. BODNAR RECOVERING Haley Bodnar still limps a bit. Months after having surgery because of a stress frac- ture in her right foot, the freshman isn't yet fully recov- ered. "I don't think (the limp) is so much from pain," she said. "It's just that I've been limping for so long, it's almost that you forget to walk normal." Bodnar, likely to medically redshirt, feels like the stress fracture developed over time, finally coming to a head in the summer when the pain got too intense to continue playing. It forced surgery that Purdue hoped would keep the 6-foot-3 forward out only until the start of Big Ten play in late December. But it's been longer. "It is frustrating, but I'm trying to take it one day at a time and focus on the positives," she said. "I'm trying to get some work in and focusing on things that I can, ball- handling, shooting, things like that." Versyp is hoping to get Bodnar back on the practice floor, more so than she is now, by mid-February. "Right now, she hasn't been able to do a lot," Versyp said. "The healing has gone a lot slower than we thought. But with those (injuries), you want to take your time with it. The biggest thing for her is be - ing able to practice, whether it's mid-February, end of February, March, to kind of get some type of rhythm, some type of skill set, experience. If you're injured the whole year and don't have that experience, it's like you're a freshman all over again. "We still don't know when that's going to be, but at least she could help us in the half court, not go full court, but do some things to get some reps." In the meantime, however, Bodnar will continue to rehab and chose her spots to get in for drills. And she's also focusing on her mental approach, trying to learn Purdue's system from the sidelines. "That's what I've been trying to do, just getting in with the coaches, trying to under- standing the system a little more, walking through things as much as I can on the floor," said Bodnar, who had never before missed a game due to injury. "I'm trying to do everything I can to get back on the floor." j Tom Campbell Freshman Haley Bodnar is likely to medi- cally redshirt, considering she's not yet recovered from surgery to fix a stress frac- ture in her right foot.
