GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 20 • 22 BY KYLE CHARTERS KCharters@GoldandBlack.com B ridget Perry missed exactly a month. After sitting out since suffering a high ankle sprain in a Jan. 8 loss at Maryland, the sophomore re- turned vs. Penn State Sunday. And was back in the starting lineup, re- placing struggling shooter Ashley Morrissette. While Perry's energy was a wel- comed addition to the Boiler- makers, her shot showed rust. The wing scored only six on 2-of-13 shoot- ing, but had eight rebounds, five of them on the offensive end, with three assists and a steal before fouling out in 28 minutes. "She just plays hard," Coach Sharon Versyp said fol - lowing Purdue's 54-50 loss to Penn State. "I want people who play hard, have a lot of heart, passion, make things happen. She had five offen- sive boards, more than any- one else. No one is going to be the savior and do X, Y and Z, but when you play hard it be- comes contagious." The Boilermakers lost six of their seven games without Perry in the lineup, struggling of- fensively in particular. Her return will help — she was averaging nine points, along with 4.3 rebounds per game — not only in scoring but in setting others up. Her ag- gressive played in the second half, when she got to the line and assist- ed Morrissette on a drive, helped Purdue to brief 10-0 run. MOORE REINSTATED Freshman Erica Moore is back with the Boilermakers, after be- ing suspended indefinitely since Tom Campbell Bridget Perry returned to action vs. Penn State, after miss- ing the last month. She played 28 minutes before fouling out.
