BASKETBALL RECRUITING class after he averaged 22 points and 12 rebounds per game as a senior. U‑M hosted him on an unofficial visit after he picked up offers from Ne‑ braska and Georgia, but things have cooled with him since the Wolverines accepted Wagner's pledge. JON TESKE EARNS LOCAL PLAYER OF THE YEAR HONORS Michigan got a good one early in the process when Medina (Ohio) High 7‑0, 235‑pounder Jon Teske pledged to the Wolverines over the summer, becoming the first commit‑ ment in the 2016 class. Teske chose the Wolverines over Ohio State, and he took his game to another level in the state playoffs, leading his team to a regional championship and av‑ eraging 15 points, 10 rebounds, eight blocks and nearly three assists in five postseason games. Rivals.com's No. 97 junior nation‑ ally earned Medina Post Player of the Year, first‑team All‑Inland District and special mention all‑state honors for his efforts after averaging 13.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.0 blocks and 2.2 assists per game. "He's such an unselfish kid first of all," head coach Chris Hassinger said. "At times he can go and score and dominate inside, but he makes the right basketball play. We call him our LeBron at times because he could go score it every time he gets it, but he won't do it. "He'll make the right basketball play. I think that's what Michigan sees in him. He's such an unselfish kid and a great passer. "The nice thing about when he gets into college, he's not going to get double‑teamed every time. Then he'll step out and hit threes, a part of his game that will continue to get better next year as he gets stronger. His up‑ per body is still weak, but seven‑foot, 235 is still not a bad place to start." Michigan fits Teske well for several reasons, according to his prep coach. "I'm seeing such growth in him skill‑wise, leadership wise … being a great human being," Hassinger said. "He's been going to speak at churches and watched some special needs guys with his team. He's not only a great basketball player; he's also an unbelievable kid." Teske earned Medina Post Player of the Year and first-team All-Inland District honors, after averaging 13.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.0 blocks and 2.2 assists per game during his junior season.
