Issue 42 / 2012 TRAVEL 27 7 FIVE REASONS TO VISIT BARCELONA CULTURE MUSEUMS Barcelona is a warm, flour- ishing, lively city, where it has reclaimed its charm and individuality, while showing traces of its rich history. By day, there's plenty to explore and by night, the entertainment is never short of excellent. Once you're out in the evening, you're out for the rest of the night. It's also home to one of the best football clubs in the world; Barcelona Football Club, which is an attraction in itself. NIGHTLIFE Barcelona has a rich history and a vast amount of museums. The Barcelona Contemporary Culture Centre (CCCB) exhibits dance, music, urbanism, de- bates and readings. A display of sculpture, painting, engraving, photography, and much more rich art can be explored at the Catalan National Art Museum (MNAC). For all chocolate lovers, visit the Chocolate Museum. There are many more museums to indulge and cap- tivate your mind in this great, historic Spanish city. SANT JOAN FESTIVAL This is an unmissable event that celebrate the beginning of the summer in Barcelona. The city skies come alive with fireworks and the city is buzzing with parties and celebrations. Each year, the city hosts the biggest beach party with live music and DJs, this year we even hosted our own party out there with DJ Fabio representing some heavy drum and bass..keep your eyes peeled for next year. If you want a holiday to remember, go to Rome, if you want to have fun, and forget all your inevitable embarrassing moments along the way, then get the lads down to Magaluf. Also don't forget Sonar Festival every year, where music and new media art is celebrated BEACHES Barcelona has four popular beaches amongst its visitors, which include Barceloneta, Mar Bella, Nova Icaria and Bogatell. Barceloneta is the closest beach to the city. The easiest way is to catch a yellow line metro; otherwise it's a 20 minute walk. Mar Bella Beach is definitely one for those who love their water sports. All beaches have fantastic beach- side bars and restaurant and are kitted out with disabilities, sun beds and lifeguards.
