38 HIP HOP / RNB www.guestlist.net ARTIST OF THE MONTH Flatbush Zombies-D.R.U.G.S Issue 42 / 2012 GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS DRIICKY GRAHAM Three Zombies rise from their corpses in Flatbush Avenue Brooklyn. D.R.U.G.S their 16 track mixtape unveils a new sound to the hip hop scene. Flatbush New York, infamous for notable ex residents such as Busta Rhymes and Legendary Basketball star Michael Jordan. Since then it's been pretty quiet up until the talented upcoming group that go by the names of Meech, Juice, and Erick Arc Elliott back from the deceased to finally give Flatbush something to shout about. What name do these guys go by you ask? Flatbush Zombies obviously, highly imaginative boys….. The zombies trying to decipher which lane they want to go down, 'Thug Waffle' will be entrenched in your brain for days if not weeks whereas 'Friday' is a more exposed and laid back affair, the mixtape plays out in a cat and dog game between the two styles. Erick Arc Elliott- their producer, is a name you may have heard of if you are familiar with the hip hop world, already having released 3 critically acclaimed solo albums. Erick Arc's beats bounce around and compliment Meech and Juice's flow to such effect you can't help but start bopping your head or pulling a ' I'm so appalled yet I am loving this song' face. D.R.U.G.S. is the first LP length material to have come from the Zombies, and with the rap game presently run by tame spitters such as Drake and Lil Wayne, the genre needs boisterous, vibrant acts like Flatbush Zombies around. As we get older, talent keeps getting younger. Internet buzz has launched a whole new bread of mcs rising to international recognition from younger and younger age, without the help of a label or investment backing. The newest Mc to break away from the pack in this manner goes by Driicky Graham. He's been around for a while now building buzz in the States with relentless touring, collaboration appearances and pushing his latest mixtape 'Ya Gotta Start Somewhere'. His sound is a mixture of upbeat tracks STANFIRST http://goo.gl/PovLN ALBUM OF THE MONTH Wiz Khalifa- O.N.I.C.F TOUR SCHEDULE : SUPA DUPA FLY This hip hop night has made quite name for itself, and if you don't know then you better get to know!
