86 JUNE + JULY 2018 NORTHSHOREMAG.COM New England Esthetic Medicine brings a refreshing outlook to the science behind looking and feeling youthful. By Lauren Torlone Mahoney BEAUTIFUL INSIDE & OUT / I N -D E P T H / PHOTOGRAPHS BY SARAH JORDAN MCCAFFERY e simple fact is that no matter how many cosmetic procedures we undergo or how many top-of-the-line skincare products we purchase, if we don't take care of ourselves on the inside, it is going to show on the outside. At New England Esthetic Medicine (NEEM) at MarketStreet Lynnfield, Dr. Rosy Sandhu and her team specialize in medical spa ser- vices and skincare, approaching everything they do from a perspective of holistic well- ness. With an interest in Ayurveda and natu- ral wellness treatments, Dr. Sandhu and her team bring a unique and refreshing outlook to an industry that is often consumed with the latest and greatest technology. NEEM marries the mind-body connection with cutting-edge treatments, offering every- thing from anti-aging procedures including Fraxel laser and microneedling to IPL photofa- cials, noninvasive skin tightening procedures, and so much more. NEEM sees a lot of very active mothers and women in their 40s and 50s who come in for truSculpt 3D, a painless treat- ment that uses radiofrequency to help reduce body fat and cellulite while tightening skin across the body; it can be used on the abdomen and thighs (among other areas) and is a popu- lar treatment that helps women feel confident. Regardless of the service, the NEEM staff takes individual circumstances into account. For example, is the client a woman who might be going through menopause, and as such someone who might benefit from hormone replacement therapy to enhance and complement other services? Or is this a client with an extraordinary amount of stress in his or her everyday life? e NEEM staff looks at how physical stress could be impact- ing health and/or skin. It makes little sense to address only the cosmetic concerns when "stress really matters and has an impact," explains Dr. Sandhu. For all clients, Dr. Sandhu's overall ap- proach is one that she efficiently boils down to "the three F's": foundation, fill, and finish. Much like a house, it all begins with the foundation, the condition of which can vary by age (a younger client will likely require less foundation "work" than an older client). Start- ing with a strong foundation, or working to strengthen one, is necessary to support treat- ments that will come later down the road. Dr. Rosy Sandhu
