'RECRUITING ROUND-UP'
On National Signing Day Feb.
4, Purdue will again host an event
that unveils the recently signed
class at Holloway Gym.
Coach Darrell Hazell and his
staff will update the group on the
class starting at 5:15 p.m. The event begins
at 4:45 and will have hors d'oeuvres and a
cash bar until 6:15 p.m.
John Purdue Club members can attend
for free, and non-JPC members must pay
$15 to attend.
Attendees who do not have a men's
basketball parking pass — the Boilermakers
play Ohio State at 6:30 p.m. that night — can
park in the M lot north of Ross-Ade Stadium.
All attendees must be at least 18 years old.
RSVP for the event is required by 5 p.m.
on Friday, Jan. 30. Contact Erin Hancock,
765-494-3248, email
jpc@purdue.edu
or register online using the link provided
above.
ANOTHER ONE
Add a third sport to Gelen Robinson's
Purdue résumé.
In only his first season competing for
the Boilermakers, the freshman defensive
end has added college shot put to his list,
after joining the wrestling team in the last
month, too.
Robinson finished sixth for Purdue in
the shot put at last weekend's dual meet
with Indiana with a throw of 13.28 meters.
For comparison's sake, football teammate
Jordan Roos' throw of 18.24 was sec-
ond in the meet, behind Purdue
All-American Chukwuebuka En-
ekwechi's throw of 18.50.
MOVING ON UP
Michigan State's assistant
coaches will receive a salary bump
moving forward.
The departure of Michigan State defen-
sive coordinator Pat Narduzzi to Pittsburgh
allowed increases to the entire staff, accord-
ing to the Detroit Free Press. Co-defensive
coordinators Harlon Barnett and Mike Tres-
sel, previously position coaches only, got the
largest bumps from $138,240 to $240,000 in
base pay. Offensive coordinator Dave War-
ner is now the high-paid assistant on the
staff after an $37,230 increase in base salary
pushed him to $387,230, and co-offensive
coordinator Jim Bollman is up $38,230 to
$378,230.
