GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 17 • 27 "I never really know who's ranked and who's not," said Vidal, a native of Venezuela. "I'm not from here so I don't know many of the American girls who are ranked. I found out she was ranked when I went on Facebook after the match and thought it was really cool. It gives you confidence." Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum went 3-1 in doubles play and, alongside Vidal, was the only other Boilermaker to go undefeated in singles play. She defeated Denver's Gracia Mboko and Drake's Summer Bills in straight sets while going the distance against Ana Vladutu of De - Paul in a 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-2) win. "It was a tough match," Ber- nard-Feigenbaum said. "I just told myself to take one point at a time, stay calm and trust my shots and I ended up coming out with the win. I felt a little bit rusty in the first cou- ple of matches, but as they went on I felt more comfortable." With six of seven members back from last season's NCAA Tour- nament team and the addition of talented Miami (Fla.) transfer Debo- rah Suarez, Glitz said she expects more from her team moving for- ward than she saw in the Purdue Invitational. "We have the capability of be- ing a great team, but we have to prove it," Glitz said. "The pieces are there. It's just the matter of every- one stepping up to the plate. It's not like we don't have the talent or don't have the lineup. I know that and I'm pretty sure the team knows that." Vidal, who called this year's team the most talented in her four years at Purdue, said the Boiler- makers' problems can be corrected quickly. "We need to work on being more intense from the beginning to the end," Vidal said. "This gives us motivation to keep training so it doesn't happen again." Purdue will get a chance to right its ship quickly over the week- end at Clemson where it will play No. 43 Washington Saturday morn- ing and No. 13 Clemson or No. 62 Winthrop Sunday. "Whoever we play, we have to be ready to play," Glitz said. "That's what I personally wanted to see this weekend, and I haven't seen it. That's what we need." j Links PurdueSports.com: Dunnichay and Johnson sweep Diver-of-the-Week honors again PurdueSports.com: Egel selected as Big Ten representative in NCAA autonomy process PurdueSports.com: Enekwechi named Big Ten Field Athlete-of-the-Week PurdueSports.com: Schmelzle, women knock off Indiana in unbelievable finish PurdueSports.com: Purdue cages 19th-ranked Wildcats in Holloway, 22-17 PurdueSports.com: Pair of Boilermakers post top-10 upsets in loss to No. 5 PSU Purdue Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum was one of Purdue's most consistent performers over the weekend as one of two Boilermakers to win all three of her singles matches. ... all the services ... all the food ... all the comfort ... all the fun YourWindow_GoldandBlack_August10_electronic.indd 1 8/20/2010 2:26:24 PM
