GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 21 • 9 BY ALAN KARPICK AND STACY CLARDIE T his should have been old hat for Terry Dischinger. But returning Sunday to West Lafayette to be recognized for having his banner in the rafters at Mackey Arena still was a bit overwhelming. "I was a bit nervous with all this atten- tion," Dischinger said moments after he was honored at halftime of the Nebraska game. "But it was a great day." Dischinger was a three-time Big Ten scoring champion (1960-62), Olympic Gold medalist (1960) and two-time consensus All-American (1961-62). "He was a rock star when he talked to the team," said Brian Cardinal, who served as Dischinger's escort for much of the day.
