GOLD & BLACK ILLUSTRATED VOLUME 25, ISSUE 4 23
The 6-3, 200-pound receiver spent
just a semester at West Hills College,
playing just a single season, his first
taste of the sport domestically.
"It's a bit faster, but I believe when
you know how to control your body,
you know how to play and you un-
derstand the game, that transition
wasn't as hard for me," Mahoungou
said. "The speed of the game in-
creased, though, and the players are
more athletic, faster and when they
hit you, you feel it.
"But for my first season in Ameri-
ca, I did pretty well."
In his one season at West Hills,
Mahoungou caught 41 passes for 801
yards and nine touchdowns.
This was another recruitment Pur-
due hopes it beat others to the punch
on, as one-semester JUCO transfers
are rare and thus Mahoungou might
have gone largely unnoticed.
The Rivals.com three-star prospect
chose the Boilermakers over offers
from Georgia State and Stony Brook
and interest from Ohio, Eastern Mich-
igan and IU.
Mahoungou will have three years
of eligibility at Purdue.

BEN MAKOWSKI
It may not be
the most excit-
ing entry to this
recruiting class,
but it was one
of the more im-
portant voids
Purdue needed
to fill:
Long-snapper.
With three-year snapper Jesse
Schmitt gone, the Boilermakers re-
cruited the 6-2, 255-pound Penn High
School snapper to handle the role
right away.
Or at least it will hope so.
Makowski put himself in a better
position to do so by enrolling early at
Purdue, giving him the winter to start
training with his new team and the
spring to begin working with its spe-
cial teams units.
He earned his offer in the summer,
beating out dozens of other snappers
in June during Purdue's camp.

The 6-6, 305-pound Rivals.com

fitting inclusion in a class rich with
