GOLDANDBLACK EXPRESS • VOLUME 25, EXPRESS 27 • 22 won only 11 games. It gave the event a bit of a low-key feel. Purdue honored its two seniors — Whitney Bays and Liza Clemons — handed out awards and looked at season highlights. The banquet also featured an opening state- ment from Purdue President Mitch Daniels, who took a moment to endorse Versyp. "We have, in my opinion, the finest coach we could have for Purdue women's basketball," Daniels said. "Sharon, you and your outstanding staff that you have assembled, just set a terrific standard. We know more such years are coming. Not every sea- son can be a national champion- ship season, but you've given us plenty (and) you're going to give us more. This program has such a proud history and it has a proud future. I can't wait for next year to get here and I know everybody in this room feels the same." Following are the postsea- son awards: • All-Big Ten Academic: Perry and Hayden Hamby • Most Improved: Keys • Perseverance: Erica Moore • Coaches (leadership): Clemons • Ruth Jones (effort, dedica- tion): Perry • Roger Blalock: Hamby • Tom Reiter (love of game): Bays j Tom Campbell Freshman Andreona Keys was given Purdue's "Most Improved" award at the postseason banquet on March 31.
