Issue 44 / 2012 ARTIST OF THE MONTH Scrufizzer HIP-HOP / RNB 35 www.guestlist.net GUESTLIST RECOMMENDS MALLY 7 We're proud to present our hip-hop artist of the month, Scrufizzer. The old skool grime is back with an enlightening new tune called "The Recipe Freestyle", which was already 'emotional' when Dre and Kendrick vocaled the beat- now, Scrufizzer brings a London feel to it. Amary Lorenzo displayed that his lyrical abilities are definitely on par with the best. He touches on many subjects regarding life and his ambitions. The fact that his music is quite diverse, even though he is predominantly 'grime', makes him someone to definitely look out for in the future. Music has made this guy many fans and more haters over the years, than I've had hot dinners. I, personally, think: "give him a break". One of my many jobs as a music journalist is to spot talent early- Scrufizzer is most definitely one of the many talents in West London that are yet to rise. Keep your eyes peeled for more releases from this guy, as you will have the opportunity to say: "I heard about him, back when fam". Up and coming Minnesota native, Mally has recently been gaining momentum and critical acclaim in equal measure. With releases like this, expect the rise to continue. It seems like this guy has a unique ability to write songs that have a deep lyrical meaning whilst still appealing to a mainstream audience quite well. I did an experiment and showed his music to a group of random people that listen to commercial hip hop. The majority enjoyed his music. I then showed his tunes to some "die hard" hip hop fans that listen to hip hop in depth. They were very impressed with the lyrical ability, production and mixing of his most recent album called Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth @ Jazz Cafe "The Last Great". It was released earlier this year in collaboration with "The Sundance Kid". He is a beat maker that has produced some amazing pieces for "Mally". They regularly collaborate, making their working relationship quite outstanding and productive. All in all this is someone to watch out for. Quite soon you will hear people "bumpin" his tunes on the stereo. Be the first to bump them and purchase his new album now! NICKI MINAJ TOUR SCHEDULE Nicki Minaj embarks on her second tour in Britain, Pi such as Drake, Rihanna and Chris Brown and had a number of successful songs, most recently 'Pound the Alarm', she is set to dominate yet again in her tour. She is known as much for her unique style as for her music, making this a tour you won't want to miss. nk Fri Sun 21 October @ Capital FM Arena, Nottingham Mon 22 October @Manchester Arena Wed 24 October @Liverpool Echo Arena Thu 25 October @Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle Upon Tyne Celebrating 20 years since their legendary debut album Mecca and The Soul Brother, hip hop legends Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth will take up a three-day residency at Camden's Jazz Club this October. Calling Mount Vernon in New York their home, the pair revolutionised the sound of early 90's hip hop, blending Rock's with Smooth's distinctive philosophy and style of delivery. Together, they brought the world classic tracks like 'They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y)', an emotional protest song widely accepted as one of the greatest horn-driven samples in hip hop. In recent years, the pair separated to pursue other projects, but now, back in full swing after joining up in 2010, the soul-tight brothers are set to impress London crowds with their signature horn-loops and verbal brilliance.
