Issue 44 / 2012 FAITHLESS PRS FOR MUSIC HERITAGE AWARD @ JAZZ CAFE 19TH SEPTEMBER
One of the UK's most iconic dance acts, Faithless were honoured by the prestigious PRS for Music Heritage Award.
We headed down to The Jazz Cafe on an early Wednesday morning to join Maxi Jazz and Sister Bliss in commemorating their achievements in British music. Back in 1996, they played their first live gig at the venue and to celebrate their success a special plaque was erected.
Faithless are one of the UK's most successful and influential dance-music acts, producing two UK #1 albums, six UK top 10 singles and achieving over 15 million global sales. We joined in a Q&A with the guys where they reminisced about about their journey. Talking on why The Jazz Cafe was so significant, Bliss added "We're so honoured to be getting this Heritage award with them and celebrating where it all started. Can't believe it's been 15 years!" Maxi offered
his advice on others wanting to get into the music industry stating "No matter what happens or what anyone else says, do not stop...don't be looking at just making the music, have your business head on too."
We were also treated to an exclusive DJ set from Maxi to top off the event. PRS for Music set up the Heritage Award in 2009, their being to recognise 'performance birthplaces' of famous bands and artists. Previous awards have been artists Elton John and Blur, now Faithless can be part of this history.
