46 REGGAE / DANCE HALL www.guestlist.net DUBLIME @ THE ELECTRIC BRIXTON 2ND NOV Issue 44 / 2012 THE HEATWAVE'S BASHMENT RAVING IN LONDON Causing insanity in dancehall raves everywhere Guest of honour in a night of African The legendary reggae singer will be the guest of honour in a night of African rhythms. Dublime is one of the few dub-based London nights that explore modern electronic music from Jamaican roots, techno and jungle, to the evolving sounds of dubstep. On the 2nd of November Dublime will present Lee Scratch Perry performing once more in London. The 76 year old Grammy award-winning reggae and dub artist, also known as 'Pipecock Jaxxon' and 'The Upsetter', had an important role in the development of reggae and dub music all over the world. He's also famous for creating The Black Ark studio in 1973. He built the mythical studio in his backyard originally to produce his own material, going on to produce notable musicians such as Bob Marley & the Wailers, Junior Byles, The Heptones, and Max Romeo. Lee Scratch will be performing in Dublime's new home located in Brixton, a key area for the growth of dub and reggae music back in the 60's and 70's. He'll be accompanied by highly rated musicians such as Redbull Culture Clash champions, Channel One Soundsystem and Debruit, who combines World music and African rhythms with dub and bass creating unique sounds .
