SHORT BUT BRUTAL The King Shocks 39th SCORE San Felipe 250 By Dan Sanchez Photos by Get Some Photo San Felipe is a beautiful coastal town nestled along the eastern shoreline of Mexico’s northern Baja peninsula. It’s known for its fishing and beautiful beaches, but it’s also known as one of the historical places where SCORE off-road races have been held for nearly 40 years. During the week of March 25th-29th, a total of 232 race teams amassed in San Felipe to participate in the first race of the 2026 SCORE World Desert Championship season, the King Shocks 38th SCORE San Felipe 250. The streets were filled with SCORE fans and race teams came to challenge a well-planned, 281.5-mile course that began in San Felipe’s downtown Malecon. The course first had racers heading South towards the Matomi Wash, followed by a short 30+ mile Northerly loop near Ejido Delicias, before heading back South towards Matomi. Here the course turned North, heading up along the mountain terrain, crisscrossing several washes until reaching Morelia Junction. The course continued to take racers North until race-mile 220, where it looped South through El Chinero, and back into downtown San Felipe to cross the finish line. TECH AND CONTINGENCY DAY All SCORE fans and teams look forward to SCORE Tech and Contingency Day, where racers line up the downtown streets to go through Tech Inspection, performed by SCORE Safety Personnel. While waiting, SCORE’s race emcees Rat Sult and Kevin Johnson interview team members about their vehicles and chances for winning, all of it streamed live across SCORE International’s social media and website. As teams wait to be interviewed and reach the SCORE Tech Inspection area, fans get to meet and see their favorite racers, vehicles, and teams up close. Thousands gathered to be a part of this experience and receive swag handed out by some teams who hype up the fans. Racers who are present, are eager to meet with fans, handing out autographs and taking photos for anyone asking. The vibe on the street is one of the best fiestas fans can experience with food, race vendors, and SCORE sponsors who are all a welcome part of the pre-race activities. • Video- King Shocks 39th SCORE San Felipe 250 Tech and Contingency Day PT1 • Video- King Shocks 39th SCORE San Felipe 250 Tech and Contingency Day PT2 • The King Shocks crew, along with owner Brett King, were at Tech and Contingency, as the Title Sponsor, and official shock sponsor of SCORE International • Thousands of SCORE fans lined-up on the San Felipe Malecon to be a part of the celebration • A fan favorite, Cowboy Cerrone, former MMA fighter, was back to take on the race in his Monster Energy Can-Am UTV • 1X Pro Moto Unlimited Champion Tyler Lynn was also present to talk to Rat Sult and fans about the team’s chances this season Watch The King Shocks 39th SCORE San Felipe 250 Tech & Contingency • Part 1 • Part 2
